This summer was so full of travel for me. I left my home in sunny California and spent 3 months with my parents in Birmingham, AL. I moved to Birmingham just before turning 20 and stayed there until I was 24. I was miserable for almost the entire 4 year stay. But this summer, I fell in love with the Iron City. It has grown so much. There is a thriving creative community, new restaurants, workspaces, and some of the best coffee shops I’ve ever encountered. Below is a list of 10 things I discovered in Birmingham that are completely covetable.

Revelator Coffee– The is number one on my list because this place probably saved my blog and my career this summer. The internet at my parent’s house is ancient, so I went to Revelator almost everyday. They have the BEST iced Chai in Birmingham, amazing Avocado toast, and the atmosphere is completely groovy.
Meg Tsang – Megan was another lifesaver this summer. Not only is she a light to be around, she is the dopest photographer in Birmingham. If you ever need photos for your event, wedding, blog, or anything at all.. Megan has my full recommendation. (she took all the photos for this post)

Steel City Pops– one word: Popsicles. But organic, freshly made, unique flavors. It’s the perfect addition to any summer day.

Woodlawn Cycle Cafe– Arguably one of the cutest coffee shops I’ve ever been in. So cute that I had an entire photoshoot inside (these blog photos were taken there). They have this grapefruit soda that is to die for.

a href=”http://www.realandrosemary.com/”>Real & Rosemary– This is a little slice of Los Angeles located in Homewood, Alabama. I walked in and I immediately felt like I was in a trendy spot in West Hollywood. The atmosphere is completely LA, the food is the healthy, and the staff are all amazing.

India Heritage– I am kind of obsessed with Indian culture. I love the food, the religion, the jewelry, everything. This little shop in Hoover is full of everything you could ever want from India. They have oils, bindis, henna, and some of the best jewelry I’ve come across in Birmingham.

Seasons 52– Located in the Summit this restaurant is the perfect mix of healthy and classy. All of their ingredients are fresh and locally grown. They even change their menu based on things that are in season.

Catch 22– A local dive bar in Tuscaloosa. It’s nothing fancy, but they have infused vodka! Infused. Vodka. They marinate fruit in vodka and it’s the best tasting thing ever. Actually, their bloody mary is the best tasting thing ever. I don’t even like Blood Marys, but I downed a few of theirs.

The Collins Bar– The vibe is everything here. The decor is trendy and minimalistic. They have great drinks, amazing service, and they will even offer you freshly popped popcorn.

Birmingham Museum of Art– I’m an art junkie. I love being surrounded by anything creative, so an entire building full of art is my type of thing. They have art to satisfy all types of cravings, great food, and events like Art on The Rocks. If you’ve never been, I suggest you spend a day in this fascinating space.

Dear Birmingham,

I am so proud of your growth and I cannot wait to visit you again.
