09 Oct Escape The City: Firelight Camps
Camping isn’t for everyone. The disconnect from our first world comforts, bugs, and pooping in the woods could deter even the most open minded folks away. However, insert running water, modern bathrooms, electricity, and furniture set in the not so middle-of-nowhere and more people may be intrigued. This is what we call glamping..which I’m a huge fan of.
A few months ago my boyfriend and I spent 2 nights at Firelight Camps in Ithaca, NY. Our room came equipped with a queen sized bed, AC, lights, wine, and an amazing breakfast the next morning. Lu (my boyfriend) is the epitome of a city boy, and anything outdoorsy is his antithesis…. and even HE enjoyed our few days of glamping.
My simple review of Firelight Camps: The bathrooms were very clean, our room was cozy, and the staff was friendly, They practiced social distancing and have a rigid cleaning policy, which made us feel comfortable that we weren’t jeopardizing our health. I suggest going on the nature walk if it’s available. It was a great way to learn about the land as well as the flora and fauna of the region.
Firelight Camps is open until October 31st this year. If you’re in NYC and looking for an escape from the city, this place is a great [socially distanced] getaway.
