18 Jul Detox
Hello Lovers!!!
On Monday I started a 3 day smoothie detox, and made my boyfriend join in on the challenge. I decided to do a detox for several reasons. The first being my skin. Ever since I decided to try the Oil Cleansing Method my skin has been AWFUL. I had done my research and figured a cleanse would be a great jumpstart to my back to healthy skin journey. The second (and most important reason) is because I believe that we just need to do a bit of deep cleaning every once in a while to keep our insides working correctly. We are exposed to so much junk and unknowingly put a lot of trash into our bodies that its good to empty all that out sometimes.
The first day of the detox was a little tough. We started with a Salt Water Flush, and TRUST ME, it will REALLY flush you out. (be sure you have plenty of toilet paper on standby). You can find all the details on the flush HERE. We had 3 smoothies on Monday, and a lot of rest. Life without food was…. really hard. To fight the cravings both of us slept… ALOT. I also started on my Yogi Skin Detox tea. The tea tastes AMAZING and all of the reviews I read said that it works wonders.
Day 2 was so much easier. I didn’t even really think of food too much. And day 3 was a complete breeze. On days 2&3 we had 4 smoothies each.
Here are a few of my favorite smoothies I made over the past few days. I used a Nutri Bullet for all of them. Let me know if you guys decide to try any of them and how they taste.
Friendly Green Monster (really filling)
My boyfriend came up with this green smoothie, and it was surprisingly one of my favorites. Don’t let the color scare you away.
Blend together:
2 cups Spinach
1 cup mango (sliced)
1 cup apple (sliced)
1 Tablespoon Flaxseeds
1 cup Almond Milk (unsweetend)
1 cup Almond Milk (unsweetend)
1/2 sliced apple
1/4 cup celery (sliced)
1 cup Kale
1 cup Spinach
1/2 cup cucumber
1 tablespoon Chia Seeds
“Sliver Me Ginger”
VERY small slice of Ginger
1/2 cup Frozen Mango
1 cup Coconut water
1 cup Pineapple
Very Berry Detox Smoothie
1 Tablespoon Chia Seeds
1/4 cup Frozen Strawberries
1/4 cup Frozen Blueberries
1/4 cup Formen Raspberries
1/4 cup Banana
1/4 cup Kale
1 cup Coconut water
Blue Berry Mint Smoothie (from ApronandSneakers.com)
1 cup Frozen Blueberries
1 cup Almond Milk
1/4 cup Plain Greek Yogurt
A few Mint Leaves
At the end of my detox I felt completely refreshed and rebooted. My skin looks SO much better and I just feel…clean. I didn’t really keep up with weight gain or loss because that wasn’t my reason for doing this. However, I did notice that my stomach was flatter and with all of the “flushing” I’m sure I lost a few pounds. I definitely recommend a smoothie cleanse. It’s healthy, yummy, and actually quite fun coming up with new recipes.
