Hello Lovers,

I’ve been wanting to do a weekly collab with some of my favorite women in the world, but wasn’t exactly sure how to do it. Monday Maven was born a few months ago, and today is her introduction into the world.

Do you believe in love at first sight? Yeah, me either. However, I do believe in friendship at first site… that’s exactly how I felt when I met Christena Melea. She’s beautiful, confident, stylish, spunky, and that hair?!?!?!? I can’t recall ever meeting a woman who is just so unapologetically herself until I met Christena. She is a (necessary) burst of positivity and carefreeness. So naturally, she was my first choice for Monday Maven. We tackled one of summer’s hottest trends: cool blues, and styled it in our own way. Meg Tsang came along to capture the magic (which comes effortlessly to her). I picked Christena’s brain about all things style, inspiration, and self love.

  • WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU
Beyonce, for sure. She is just such a hard worker. She continuously outdoes herself. She is does so many things, yet she can’s be denied. I’m always challenging myself to work harder, but to work for what I want & not for what the world wants for me.
  • FAVORITE QUOTE
I’m constantly reminding myself to “Live in the pink”, which is a play off of “living in the grey”. As opposed to thinking of how things turn out in terms of black & white. I used red & white because grey is still depressing but pink I can deal with.
  • 3 PLACES YOU SHOP AS A PLUS SIZED BLOGGER
I’m always in Forever21 because their plus size section in the store is huge here in Alabama. I’ve recently become a mega fan of ASOS because it’s more rooted in fashion. Last, BooHoo, it takes a while to get through customs when ordering, but it’s worth it.
  • DO YOU HAVE ANY INSECURITIES? HOW DO YOU GET PAST THEM?
I definitely have a couple, lol. I have to remind myself constantly to stop running away from them. To face them head on, collaborate with them. Kind of like how they say keep your enemies close, lol. Gotta be best friends with your insecurities.

Whether you’re plus sized or not I urge you to visit Christena’s Blog. She has all sorts of style tips, trend inspiration, and you’ll just want to stalk her life. You can also find her on Instagram @ChristenaMelea.
