I would readily argue that there are few things more comfortable, effortless, and “American” than a white t-shirt and jeans. This “uniform” has been a staple in the American wardrobe for decades. It transcends time, gender, race, and class, and it’s my go-to wardrobe when I don’t feel like putting much thought into what I’m going to wear. I normally spice things up with great shoes, bold accessories or a great handbag.

My picks for denim are always Express jeans. I may be biased because I spent all of college working there, but the brand really does go above and beyond when it comes to denim. They keep classic styles but also transform to meet the latest trends. They have styles that cater to specific body types and offer various washes, levels of stretch, and lengths in all of the different styles. Another plus… they are VERY inexpensive and they always offer sales (like this weekend… everything is 40% off from today until Monday).

As far as t-shirts go… Gap and American Apparel are my favorites. Both brands offer high quality shirts that are soft and soooooo comfy.

As fall approaches it’s going to be time to retire my favorite glitzy flats from Zara. All summer long I have been stopped on the street and social media from style mavens asking about my shoes. Unfortunately, Zara no longer carries these but after searching the internet high and low I found a comparable pair for you ladies. They are only $29 and can be found in the link above.

What are your favorite jeans and t-shirts, and how do you dress up this “boring” American staple?
